Don’t make the mistake of not winterizing your boat. When cold weather starts to hit, doing preventative maintenance now will save you in the long run.

Here are just a few things that can happen to your boat if you do not winterize it correctly:

  • Residual moisture left in the crankcase can pit bearings and other vital engine parts
  • Gas run boats that use gas containing ethanol left in the fuel filter over winter can cause a caustic mixture at the bottom of your tank that can damage the engine
  • Store out-drives and outboards in the down position so water can drain, otherwise ice can crack the housing
